Kiggans visits Suffolk water treatment plant

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Rep. Jen Kiggans secured $1,000,000 in federal funding for the G. Robert House Water Treatment Plant in Suffolk.

She recently visited the facility to learn more about how the money will be used for facility upgrades. The funds will go towards the removal of excessive fluorides common in groundwater in the Western Tidewater region. The fluoride removal process involves replacing Electrodialysis Reversal (EDR) Membranes.

“As the 10th largest city in Virginia, Suffolk needs a sophisticated water system to effectively serve its 100,000 residents,” said Congresswoman Kiggans. “The funding I secured will go towards guaranteeing Suffolk’s residents and visitors have access to safer, cleaner drinking water.
